I WANT YOU...

Boy meets girl. Nearly. A missed opportunity for a love story...

I Want You is a short film about the building desire between a boy and a girl sat opposite each other on a broken down train. They make eye contact, distract one another with the slightest of movements, and are unable to concentrate on what they are reading. The tension builds and builds to the increasingly fast paced "Billet Doux" by Django Reinhardt. And then the moment is gone. The intercom announces that the train will soon be on its way. Thoughts of passion turn to amusement, embarrassment.

The belief that she has a four-year-old clone is the catalyst for a young woman to completely lose her mind. Why is slowly revealed on a lonely desert highway.

When Hera comes face to face with a child she believes to be her clone, she kidnaps four-year-old Hebe and decides to drive her “home”, a journey that takes them into the middle of a desert. Hera is clearly soul-searching and hopes her life will fall back into place when she and Hebe reach their destination. On the road Hera constantly conjures up her siblings, including her dead twin, in an attempt to rationalise her behaviour. She has little time for the actual people she meets.

The mix of comedy and drama in the story parallels Hera’s lucidity slowly slipping away, until she reverts to being a teenager. The reason for the kidnapping as well as the truth behind a tragic event which triggered her decline more than a decade earlier, is revealed with an unexpected twist.

Against all odds, the anti-heroine succeeds in creating a happy ending for herself.

Or does she?
